# Chat with Santa: guides for parents

A chat with Santa can be a small, funny, memorable moment, or it can be a mess if the app is not built for kids with a parent in charge. These guides explain how to text Santa, what to say, and how to keep the magic safe and your promises light.

## TL;DR

- A good Santa chat has a parent holding the phone, no strangers and no ads.
- Santa should never promise a particular gift. "The elves are taking a look" does the job.
- Santa Wishlist replies in seconds to a photo or a message, and keeps a private list you can open later.

## What a good Santa chat looks like

A good Santa chat is short, warm and in character. It answers your kid's question or wish in a couple of sentences, adds one playful detail about the elves or the North Pole, and leaves the real decisions with you. It does not collect more information than it needs, and it does not push your child to keep typing.

Santa Wishlist is built that way. You hold the phone, you snap the photo or type the message, and Santa writes back in seconds. See [how it works](/how-it-works) or the [safety page](/safety) for the details.

## Where to start

If this is your first season texting Santa, begin with the walkthrough below. It covers the options, the five steps, and what to check before you trust any Santa app with your child's wishes.

## FAQ

### Is it safe for my child to chat with Santa in an app?

A Santa chat can be safe when a parent holds the phone and the app has no open chat, no strangers, no ads and safety filters in both directions. Santa Wishlist is built around those points. Read the [safety page](/safety).

### Is Santa in Santa Wishlist a real person?

No. Santa's replies are generated by AI and reviewed by automated safety filters. Santa Wishlist is operated by parents, for parents, and is intended for use by adults with their children.

### Does Santa Wishlist do video or voice calls with Santa?

No. Santa Wishlist is text and photo only, and it is not a Santa tracker.
